Blues and Man United will have to pay an enormous £83m if they want to add Lyon centre-forward Moussa Dembele this summer. The Premier League duo have had their eye on U21 France international for a while, and with their attacking play being a cause for concern at present.
Both of them are lining up a move for Moussa when the transfer window reopens. The Red Devils have seen injuries hamper them in forwarding areas this term, highlighted at present with Marcus Rashford’s ongoing absence due to injury, and the failure to replace Romelu Lukaku is coming back to bite them.
They have now set their sights on rectifying that, with Man United keen to bring Dembele to the Theatre of Dreams, having missed out on signing Erling Haaland in winter. The attacking issues at London have been something that has come to the fore recently, ironically highlighted by their inability to find the net against Red Devils last week.
They are another team who failed to replace a departed forward footballer in winter, and the subsequent injury to Tammy Abraham has left Chelsea manager Frank Lampard pulling his hair out watching his side labour in front of goal.
That will be music to the ears of both the Red Devils and Chelsea, and although the fee needed to get their man make the eyes water, the upside and necessity of it mean we could see a battle for his signature between the two ensue this summer.
