Chelsea and Arsenal have joined the race to sign Bursaspor star Ali Akman, reports claim. Ali has been in great form for the Turkish club, scoring nine goals in 16 matches already this campaign. However, they are resigned to losing him after he turned down a new deal and he just has six months remaining on his current deal.
Bursaspor are willing to cash in on him now rather than risk losing him on a free transfer in the summer and clubs can land him for just £3m. There is a big queue of interested sides in the battle to land him. RB Salzburg and Gala attempted to strike a deal for Akman in December, while clubs in Germany, Italy and France have also displayed an interest.
The 18-year-old striker burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old and has since established himself as a key figure in the Bursaspor side. He believes, however, that he is ready for the next step in his career and is set for a new challenge.
While Bursasport have set an asking price of £3m for his services they may be forced to accept less given the financial impact of the covid pandemic. Given how easily he has stepped up to first-team football in Turkey, he could prove to be an incredibly shrewd signing in the long-term, even if it turns out he’s not quite ready for top-level PL football.
Leeds United have been linked with a move for Tomori, but AC Milan are the latest club to express a genuine interest in the footballer.
