PSG centre-back Presnel Kimpembe has addressed the speculations surrounding his future in Ligue 1 amidst interest from Chelsea. A product of the PSG youth setup, France international has grown into a mainstay at the heart of the back-line for the club.
Kimpembe was a regular fixture in the side as the Parisians raced to the Ligue 1 title triumph last campaign. While Presnel has been a regular in the side alongside Marquinhos in recent years, things could change in the next campaign.
Ligue 1 giants have prioritised the signing of a new defender this summer. PSG are interested in Inter Milan centre-back and Chelsea target Milan Skriniar, while there have also been links to Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly. PSG’s pursuit of a new centre-back has led to question marks over the future of the 26-year-old defender.
The French centre-back has emerged as a potential transfer target for the Blues as a replacement for Rudiger, who has left the club for Real Madrid. The German manager is believed to be seeking a reunion with the Frenchman at Chelsea. Presnel still has two years left on his deal with the Parisians.
But the fact that he is not entirely convinced of his role in the side and is seeking clarification on the matter bodes well for the Blues, who are eyeing many additions to strengthen the backline this summer. Whether a move materialises remains to be seen, however.
