London giants are also reportedly interested in AC Milan shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma, joining Real Madrid and PSG in a potential transfer scrap. Despite still just being only 21 years of age, Italy international has already played 190 games for the Rossoneri having made his breakthrough very early on in his career.
While Gianluigi has made the odd glaring mistake along the way, he has firmly established himself as a key figure for Milan and is also expected to be the long-term first choice between the posts for Italy moving forward. Blues keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga lost his starting place this campaign, with doubts emerging over his future at the London club.
Frank Lampard has since brought him back into the side and Kepa has responded with a string of fantastic displays, but speculation stays rife over the plans at Chelsea with regards to their shot-stopper situation. Blues are said to be set to make an offer for Donnarumma, although they’ll face competition from Los Blancos and Parisians.
Given the quality that the two shot-stoppers in question possess, it’s highly unlikely that they could co-exist at the London giants as both would warrant a starting berth, and so if a move for the 21-year-old goalkeeper materialises, that would suggest that Arrizabalaga would move on.
The Italian shot-stopper is perhaps, even more, appealing this summer given that his current deal expires in 2021, and so unless Serie A giants can convince him to put pen to paper on a new long-term contract, they run the risk of losing him much less than his true value next year and perhaps even for free next summer.
