The London giants are reportedly plotting a move for Porto winger Jesus Corona in case they fail with their offer to sign Jadon Sancho. Chelsea are resigned to losing Willian when his deal expires, and the English manager has placed Borussia Dortmund youngster Jadon Sancho at the top of his wishlist ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, Blues have been forced to scour the market for potential alternatives, with Man United in pole position to complete a deal for the 20-year-old forward. The report claims Bournemouth attacker Josh King is also on Chelsea’s radar as a fall-back option.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz has been heavily linked with a switch to Chelsea in recent weeks, and another highly-rated forward has emerged as an option for the Premier League giants. Porto forward Corona has been identified as the perfect back-up target by the Blues in case their move for England international ends in failure.
The 27-year-old winger, who has racked up two goals and seven assists in the Liga NOS this campaign, represents a far cheaper alternative to the Englishman, with Porto demanding only £26m for his signature. However, Blues would have see off contest from Inter Milan and Sevilla to land the Mexican attacker.
Last month, Callum Hudson-Odoi urged his England colleague, Jadon, to reject Man United in favour of a move to Chelsea. The Blues squad returned to training last week, and PL clubs are poised to give the green light to full-contact sessions. Club action is expected to resume in late June, but it stays to be seen if N’Golo Kante will be part of the restart.
