Chelsea have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho with Man United cooling their interest in the star due to Borussia Dortmund’s £100m valuation. Premier League rivals Blues, Red Devils, Liverpool and Man City have all been linked with summer moves for him, who has scored 18 goals and made 15 assists in 43 games this campaign.
England international has developed into one of the most exciting youngsters in world football since joining the German club from Man City in 2017 and has also become a regular for England. Red Devils have long been linked with a move for him, and the Norwegian boss wants Man United to sign at least two wingers at the end of the campaign.
Ed Woodward was expected to face contest from Blues, Liverpool and Man City in the battle to sign Jadon but one of Man United’s rivals have reportedly withdrawn from the race. London club have no intention of meeting Dortmund’s £100m asking price for Sancho, particularly after reaching a deal to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.
It was confirmed on Thursday that Blues were ready to bring Ziyech to Stamford Bridge in a deal costing the London club nearly £37m. Frank Lampard intends to bring at least three more footballers to the Stamford Bridge this summer, but it is claimed Blues are unwilling to break the bank on a marquee signing.
That is welcome news for struggling Premier League giants Red Devils, who reportedly remain the frontrunners to sign Sancho. Former Man United midfielder Lee Sharpe has urged the Red Devils to secure a deal for Jadon and says he can ‘light up Old Trafford’.
