Kalidou Koulibaly is facing an uncertain future at Napoli, with his current deal expiring at the end of the next campaign. It has compelled Napoli to consider offloading Senegal international in the summer in the hopes of yielding transfer revenue.
Barcelona have been in contention to sign Koulibaly, but it appears they are not in a financial position to pull off such a deal. It has made the Blues one of the front-runners in the battle to sign Kalidou, with Napoli willing to part ways with their defensive asset for a fee of €35m.
The Blaugrana are not willing to meet such demands despite their apparent need for a defender. A move to Barcelona, therefore, has been ruled out for the 30-year-old centre-back. But the Senegalese defender’s agent, Fali Ramadani believes his client can seal a move to the PL.
Chelsea, in particular, could emerge as a possible destination as the London giants are tipped to lose two of their defenders in Christensen and Rudiger on free transfers, with the latter agreeing to a move to Real Madrid and the former on the brink of joining the Catalan club.
The African defender can be a perfect defensive partner for Azpilicueta and Silva, adding more experience to the table. It could be critical in helping them drive out of the mess following the sanctions on Abramovich that have derailed the Blues’ season, with Chelsea now running the risk of being dragged back into the top-four race.
