Chelsea determined to sign €100m-rated Belgian centre-forward

The London giants look to be keeping their options open in case they are unable to land Erling Haaland in the summer transfer window. Chelsea view Inter Milan centre-forward Romelu Lukaku as “Plan B”, with a bid prepared to sign him from the Nerazzurri.

Lukaku has made giant strides since leaving Man United in the summer of 2019. Having faced the threat of falling down the pecking order at the Theatre of Dreams, Romelu chose to join the Nerazzurri, with the move paying off handsomely so far.

Now widely regarded as one of the best forwards in Europe, Romelu has racked up a tally of 64 goals and 16 assists in 95 games to date for Inter, while having played a pivotal role in their Serie A triumph last term. Suffice to say, Lukaku has captured the attention of the who’s who of the game, with Blues, in particular, keen on signing him.

Blues priority attacking target this summer is Erling Haaland, who is reportedly open to joining the English giants. However, the pursuit of the Norwegian centre-forward is nothing short of complicated, considering the financials that will be involved in addition to Borussia Dortmund’s reluctance to part ways with him this summer.

The Blues now appear to be seriously considering a summer move for the Belgian centre-forward, having prepared an offer to tempt financially-stricken Inter Milan to cash in on him. Having said that, the Belgian striker has previously iterated his desire to stay put at Inter Milan, meaning Chelsea will have their task cut out in landing him.
