Dean Henderson will tell the Red Devils that he wants to replace David De Gea as their No.1 shot-stopper or be allowed to leave following interest from the London club, according to reports.
England international has impressed during his loan spell with Sheffield United and his displays have led to calls for him to become the Norwegian coach’s new first-choice shot-stopper following his inconsistent form this campaign.
Dean’s eye-catching displays for Sheffield United has also attracted interest from Blues, with the English boss keen to replace Kepa following his error-strewn season at London club. And Dean will seek a move away from Red Devils if he is not guaranteed a regular role at Theatre of Dreams next campaign.
The report claims that Blues are keeping tabs on Dean’s situation and could submit an offer this summer, but Red Devils do not want to sell him to a PL rival.
Despite De Gea’s poor displays for the Red Devils this campaign, Dean has defended the Spaniard and believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s No.1 deserves another opportunity. ‘The fans have to remember what he’s done for the last nine years, he’s been phenomenal,’ said the 23-year-old goalkeeper.
‘He’s probably been the best player at Man United for that time period. He should get another opportunity. I’m a young lad. I’m working hard. I’m a fan of the club and I want to play for them. Hopefully, I have a career at Man United as David De Gea has.’
