The London club have reportedly received a loan offer for shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to sources. The 25-year-old goalkeeper looks likely to be cleared to leave London club this summer after several poor displays in his time in Chelsea.
Arrizabalaga has surely now been replaced by Edouard Mendy as Blues number one after a deal for the 28-year-old goalkeeper was officially confirmed earlier. It’s now being claimed that Kepa is a loan target for an unnamed club, though this club is thought to be Serie A giants Roma.
The London giants supporters will now surely be hoping Spain international can be offloaded as quickly as possible, though a permanent exit would be preferred. After a summer of big spending, Chelsea could do with balancing the books by selling the Spanish goalkeeper and other unneeded squad footballers.
Kepa’s reckless attempt to pass it out from the back rather than clearing the ball was snapped up by Mane, with the winger not turning down the gift as he made it 2-0 to Liverpool. While many sides interested in Arrizabalaga, there’s no doubt that the media will eventually moot a come back to La Liga for the out-of-form goalkeeper.
Kepa, who became the world’s most expensive shot-stopper when he joined Blues, also failed to keep out Leandro Trossard’s long-range effort in the victory over Brighton. Blues still hopes to recoup nearly £40m from Arrizabalaga next summer, as long as the goalkeeper experiences a decent loan spell away from all the pressure and attention.
