The London giants will explore the possibility of signing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the new year. A product of the Birmingham City youth setup, Jude burst into the first-team at the English Championship club in 2019 at the age of only 16 and made such an impression that several top teams around Europe were queuing up to add the midfielder in the summer of last year.
Indeed, there had been interest from the likes of Man United, as well as Chelsea, but ultimately England international decided to join the Bundesliga giants and has thrived in Germany. Bellingham was a regular fixture in the side for the BVB, despite his age, and went on to rack up 46 games, scoring an assisting four goals apiece from midfield.
The 18-year-old midfielder broke into the Three Lions squad on the back of his displays and was even part of the England team for the UEFA Euro 2020.
The English midfielder has started the new campaign in a similar vein of form, already bagging a goal and three assists in only five matches across all tournaments. Chelsea, as things stand, have a solid midfield unit, bolstered by the deadline day arrival of Saul Niguez.
The Atletico Madrid midfielder has joined on a season-long loan deal with an option of making the transfer permanent. Apart from him, the German coach also has N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho at his disposal.
