Burnley have entered the race for Ross Barkley. The Clarets have identified an impressive chance to snap up the Chelsea playmaker, who is likely to be available in the market, once the transfer window reopens in winter.
The Clarets are prepared to pay a chunk of England international’s salary to add the playmaker on a loan deal and bolster the overall quality of their club, as manager Sean Dyche seems to mastermind another relegation escape this campaign.
Ross has been on the fringes at Stamford Bridge ever since returning from his loan spell at Aston Villa this summer. Since the start of the season, Barkley has featured in just 36 minutes of competitive football under the German coach, falling behind the likes of Mount, Havertz, Ziyech, Pulisic and even Loftus-Cheek in the pecking order.
It stays unlikely that the 27-year-old playmaker will redeem himself at Chelsea anytime soon. The fact that the Blues are linked with a move for more playmakers like Christopher Nkunku makes things even more difficult for the English attacker.
Burnley, though, are prepared to offer the Englishman a career lifeline by welcoming him into their ranks during the second half of the season. Former Everton playmaker is being targeted to help further bolster the Clarets’ creative unit that has struggled to create regular scoring chances. The Clarets are not the only club to have been linked with a move for Ross Barkley, though.
