Burnley determined to sign £60,000-a-week Liverpool centre-forward

Burnley have drawn up an emergency shortlist to add a centre-forward this month, with Divock Origi among those targets. They want to bring in a new striker to offset the sudden departure of Chris Wood to Newcastle this month.

The Magpies sprang a surprise this week as it was revealed they were about to add Burnley centre-forward Chris Wood. Newcastle were made aware of a release clause in the centre-forward’s deal and duly paid the money required for the New Zealand international.

The surprise move has left the Clarets with a shortage of centre-forwards as they relied heavily on Wood for their goals. As his team was sent to the bottom of the table after Norwich’s victory over Everton, Sean Dyche will look to bolster his squad ahead of a difficult battle to stave off relegation and stay in the PL.

Hence, the Clarets have reportedly drawn up an emergency shortlist of centre-forwards with Belgium international featuring there. The Belgian striker, once heavily tipped to join the Magpies in the ongoing transfer window, has now been left to choose from many options that are expected to arrive sometime this month.

In truth, the Clarets could be a less glamorous option for Divock, who is attracting attention from many top teams across the continent. At the end of the month, he may have several options on the table to choose from, and Burnley could be the least favourite considering the quality of the footballer.
