Burnley almost finished talks with 21-year-old Chelsea footballer

Chelsea centre-back Fikayo Tomori is reportedly a target for Burnley this transfer window. The talented defender has emerged as a footballer who Clarets manager Sean Dyche is keen to recruit. Fikayo spent the last campaign away from the Chelsea on a loan deal.

He played under new Chelsea coach Frank Lampard at Derby County, where he enjoyed a strong season. Tomori helped the Rams to the final of the playoffs but could not aid them at the final hurdle as Aston Villa secured promotion to the Premier League with a 2-1 win.

However, England Under-21 international could yet be playing his football in the top flight next campaign, as Burnley plot a move worth a reported £15m.

Frank could be keen to keep hold of the Canadian-born starlet following the success the centre-back enjoyed under his tutelage at Pride Park, but the prospect of regular football elsewhere may be tempting for the 21-year-old defender.

Sean Dyche ready to spend considerable money on the centre-back but it will be difficult to sign him as Celtic also planning to make a bid during this summer transfer window. There will be a contest for the player, and his price could become much more.

Burnley had terrible result in the Premier League as they finished the tournament in a 15th position. Clarets were very close to relegate in the Championship, but they won several games during the second half of the season.

English club signed several footballers last summer like Ben Gibson from Middlesbrough, Matej Vydra from Derby County and Joe Hart from Man City.
