Bundesliga giants join race for £100,000-a-week Arsenal shot-stopper

One of Several crucial first-team footballers facing an uncertain future at the London giants could be Bernd Leno. Along with Hector Bellerin, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Germany international has emerged in the list of footballers who could be offloaded in the summer.

It is hardly surprising, as Arsenal have been linked with a move for a new goalkeeper, including Unai Simon recently. Borussia Dortmund are desperately searching for a shot-stopper this summer, as they look to move on from Roman Burki.

The ex-Freiburg custodian has been ostracized from the first-team by interim head coach Edin Terzic, though he is expected to keep for Borussia Dortmund, in the upcoming DFB Pokal final against RB Leipzig, in light of Marwin Hitz’s injury on the weekend.

Speaking of Hitz, the Swiss goalkeeper is not highly rated in the BVB camp, even though he has been the number one in the Ruckrunde so far. It ideally paves the way for someone like Bernd to return to the Bundesliga, by joining the Black and Yellows.

As mentioned earlier, Leno has a lot of experience in the Bundesliga, with over 300 competitive games for Leverkusen. Although the shot-stopper does have a track record of making unforced defensive errors from time to time, he could certainly be a step up from Burki and Hitz.

On top of that, the German goalkeeper is unlikely to cost much, which bodes well for Borussia Dortmund as they look to reshape their goalkeeping unit in the upcoming summer transfer window.
