Belgian club closely monitoring 19-year-old Man United winger

Facundo Pellistri is currently on loan at Deportivo Alaves until the end of the campaign, but it appears his loan spell could be cut short, and the footballer may come back to Man United in winter, owing to a lack of playing time.

It has put Brugge on red alert, with the Belgian club hoping to snap up the 19-year-old winger on loan for the second half of the season. Formerly of Penarol, Facundo arrived at Man United last summer for a sizable fee of €8m.

But after failing to muster a single competitive game for the Red Devils during the first half of the 2020/21 season, Pellistri was loaned out to Deportivo Alaves in winter. The Uruguayan attacker went on to play 12 matches for Alaves in La Liga, tempting the Spanish club to extend his loan for an entire year this summer.

But the move has backfired, as the South American attacker looks to have failed to live up to the expectations, featuring in only under 200 minutes of league football so far with zero goal involvements.

It appears the club’s newly appointed manager Javier Calleja does not rate Facundo highly, often preferring the likes of Miguel de la Fuente, Luis Rioja and other ahead of him. As a result, Pellistri could be ready for a come back to Man United, with Brugge prepared to snap him up in winter.
