Bayern Munich have reignited their interest in signing Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea, according to reports in Germany. In January 2019, Bundesliga club submitted multiple offers to the Blues for U21 England international, including an offer of £35m.
But Blues turned down Bavarians advances and instead Callum signed a new five-year deal in September. Bavarians are keen to strengthen their front-line following Ivan Perisic’s departure this summer and the Bundesliga giants have contacted Hudson-Odoi’s representatives once again to discuss a potential move.
The report claims that Bavarians are interested in a loan deal which includes a purchase option, however, they have not yet made an official approach to London club. RB Leipzig are also interested in signing the 19-year-old forward but would not be able to afford the attacker’s £120,000-a-week salary.
The English forward came off the bench in Blues PL opener on Monday evening as Frank Lampard’s side sealed a 3-1 victory over Brighton. Last campaign, the forward scored three goals and registered six assists in 33 games for Blues.
And Callum faces increased competition for a place in Frank Lampard’s starting line-up following the arrivals of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz this summer.
Frank Lampard, however, is adamant that Blues new additions should only be seen as a positive for footballers who are already at Chelsea. ‘The challenge goes to the players who want to get into the team,’ Frank Lampard. ‘And that’s how you generate an uplift in levels among the squad.’
