Bayern Munich in bidding war for €35m-rated Liverpool playmaker

The Merseyside giants playmaker Georginio Wijnaldum has been offered to Bayern Munich, according to reports. However, the Bundesliga giants are likely to look elsewhere to bolster these midfield options this summer.

The Netherlands international’s current deal at Liverpool is ready to expire at the end of the campaign with the player appearing set to leave after five campaigns on Merseyside. Gini was wanted by Barcelona last summer and has been a target for the La Liga giants since then with Koeman reportedly keen to bring him in on a free transfer.

Reports however have suggested Blaugrana have cooled their interest with the club under intense financial pressure and unable to meet wage demands. With a move still likely this summer, Abendzeitung now reports that the Bavarians have been offered Wijnaldum.

While they admire the Dutch midfielder, the German giants are not in the running for his signature and are likely to focus on younger targets with the club looking at Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus. The report adds ‘several top clubs’ are in for the 30-year-old playmaker.

With Gini’s future uncertain, Reds are thought to be considering options to replace the Dutchman with club legend John Barnes believing Brighton stat Yves Bissouma would be a ‘good fit’. ‘Yves Bissouma has the ability to play at a team like Liverpool,’ Barnes said.

‘He could fill what Jürgen Klopp wants from the three midfield players. He is strong defensively, he works hard, he plays the ball quickly and every now and then when he needs to dribble, as much as we don’t speak about Brighton, you know he can do it because he has in the past.’
