Merseyside club forward Mohamed Salah is reportedly favouring a transfer to Barcelona over Real Madrid as he weighs up his future at Anfield. The 27-year-old winger has been a star performer for Liverpool since his move from Roma in 2017, but it seems he’s now considering leaving the Anfield soon.
It stays to be seen how much Mohamed will push to leave the Reds, but if he does it looks he has no interest in a move to Santiago Bernabeu. This is because of his feud with Los Blancos captain Sergio Ramos, who injured him in the UCL final of 2018.
This seemingly gives Blaugrana the edge in the race to sign Salah, who could well be a perfect replacement for Lionel Messi if they need one in the next few years. The Argentine superstar just won his sixth Ballon d’Or, but is now 32-year-old and cannot go on forever at this level.
Egypt international is a similar style of footballer so could appeal to the Camp Nou, even if we’re perhaps unlikely to ever see anyone as good as Lionel Messi at any club ever again. The Catalan club have fantastic consequences in the La Liga this season as they are leading the table.
Barcelona signed several players during the summer transfer window like Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid, Frenkie de Jong from Ajax, Junior Firpo from Real Betis, Jean-Clair Todibo from Toulouse and Neto from Valencia. Spanish club strongly linked with Man United centre-forward Marcus Rashofrd.
