Arsenal started negotiations with No.10 Macedonia international

The Gunners have made a bid for Levante star Enis Bardhi, but face contest from Serie A and the Bundesliga for the player. Macedonia international arrived at Levante from Hungarian club Ujpest in 2017 for only over £1m and has gone on to be a regular in the first team, racking up 88 La Liga games over the last three campaigns, scoring 16 goals.

Such have been his displays for the Valencia-based team that Gunners have been alerted to his talents and ‘lodged a bid’ for Enis. They also report that Fiorentina are keen on signing Bardhi, while an unnamed German club is also interested.

The size of the bid is unknown, as is Levante’s response. The La Liga club would be loathed to lose one of their better players, but it is unlikely they will behold onto him when the likes of Gunners come calling.

The 24-year-old midfielder is under deal until 2022, with Levante having an option to extend the contract for another two years, so the club are in a strong position to ask for a huge amount more money than they paid for the footballer.

While the Macedonian midfielder can operate across the midfield, Enis is mostly deployed from the left-wing and he Bardhi started and scored on Sunday in Levante’s 4-2 La Liga win over Real Betis, his second goal since the restart after the covid-19 hiatus.

The win almost guaranteed the club’s La Liga safety this campaign and Bardhi was pleased to take the pressure off. ‘I try to do things right. Sometimes, they turn out well, other times, no,’ Enis said.
