Arsenal started negotiations with 23-year-old French attacker

While Dayot Upamecano has already confirmed his move to Bayern Munich, many of his partners could follow him in departing the Red Bull Arena, including Christopher Nkunku, with the London giants reportedly on the prowl.

Gunners, in fact, had eyes on U21 France international even during his time at PSG, before he eventually opted to join Leipzig in 2019, for a fee of only €13m.

It has proven to be a bargain on RB Leipzig’s part, as Nkunku enjoyed a marvelous debut campaign in the Bundesliga, scoring five goals while registering 15 assists, the third-most in the league last term.

Although Christopher, with six goals and five assists, has not been able to hit the same heights in the ongoing season, there has been a steady elevation in his form.

In fact, seven of his eleven goal involvements this campaign have come in 2021, with his contributions in front of goal playing a crucial role in helping Die Roten Bullen keep up with league leaders Bayern Munich.

However, it has also put the Gunners on red alert as the PL giants continue their search for an attacker in the upcoming summer transfer window. Arsenal have currently made Martin Odegaard their transfer priority, hoping to sign the Norwegian attacker on a permanent deal from Real Madrid.

However, they fear that La Liga giants could end up demanding a hefty price tag as they themselves have good reasons to keep hold of the talented no. 10, who has done wonders at Arsenal.

The Gunners possible failure in pursuit of Odegaard could force the Spanish manager to shift his attention towards alternatives, with the club recently being linked with a move for Nabil Fekir.
