Arsenal started negotiations with 21-year-old La Liga midfielder

The London club are eyeing a £21m move for Marc Cucurella, currently on loan at Getafe from Barcelona. U21 Spain international may not be a huge name, but he’s impressed in La Liga over the past couple of campaigns and could be an exciting signing. Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen the squad during the summer transfer window.

Marc was outstanding for Eibar the last term, and Getafe are a genuine contender for a Champions League spot next campaign after a fantastic season. Cucurella is only 21, but he has that ability to occupy an entire side of the field, much like Dani Alves used to do at the Catalan club.

The 21-year-old midfielder is technically brilliant but also has the work ethic and defensive ability to make the spot his own. It could be complicated because the report states that Getafe have an option to buy him and other clubs are interested, but he does seem exactly the kind of player that would fit in at Emirates.

Sometimes a club can have a problem with a certain position, and for the Gunners, that looks to be the left-back spot. Kieran Tierney may still turn out to be the answer there, but he’s often injured, and he was a signing from a previous regime, so the Spanish manager might want to bring his player in.

Arsenal have terrible consequences in the Premier League this campaign as they are in a 9th place in the table. The London club signed several players during the summer transfer window like Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano, Nicolas Pepe from Lille, David Luiz from Chelsea, Kieran Tierney from Celtic and William Saliba from Saint-Etienne.
