Arsenal renewed interest in 23-year-old French defender

The London giants have expressed interest in Colin Dagba. The PSG right-back has no future at Parc des Princes, with speculation linking him to a possible move away from France in winter. However, the 23-year-old defender has rejected the advances of a couple of Ligue 1 clubs, including Saint-Etienne.

It appears Dagba may well end up remaining at PSG during the second half of the season before opting for a new start in the summer. His situation is being closely monitored by several top teams around Europe, including Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.

Part of the PSG youth setup since 2016, Colin initially emerged into the first team in the 2018/19 season as a talented defender with a big future ahead of him.

However, the French right-back hasn’t enjoyed the kind of growth that was expected of him, having failed to muster over 1,400 minutes of league football in any of his three completed campaigns in the top-flight. The Frenchman’s role in the Parisians first-team dwindled further this campaign after the arrival of Achraf Hakimi.

The Moroccan defender has become the undisputed first-choice option at right-back, which has restricted Colin Dagba’s overall playing time to only 97 minutes of league football. Dagba’s struggles at Paris, though, have not deterred the Gunners, who are in the market for defensive reinforcements.

It is no secret that the Spanish manager is keen on finding a more reliable backup for Tomiyasu at right-back, especially amid speculation linking Chambers to a move away from Arsenal.
