Roma are considering looking elsewhere after being told by the Gunners that they want nearly £24m for Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer. Armenia international has spent the season on loan with the Giallorossi. Henrikh has played 13 Serie A games and scored six goals in the top flight.
Meanwhile, Mkhitaryan has also provided three assists despite only starting eight times in the league. Serie A giants are keen to extend the 31-year-old attacker’s stay beyond this campaign. But Gunners demands have prompted the club to consider other options.
The report suggests that Arsenal want £24m for the Armenian star, who is out of the deal at the London club in 2021. It is noted that the Italian club are now looking at a move for Stephan El Shaarawy. The Gunners are right to try and get as much for Henrikh as possible.
However, some supporters may deem it a mistake to price Giallorossi out of a move. But perhaps Arsenal’s demands could provide a further hint that he may end up with another opportunity in North London. Mikel Arteta admitted this month that Mkhitaryan is a footballer he has always liked.
Henrikh also suggested that he could fit into any team when he is at his best. So perhaps the Spanish coach feels that there is an upside to not selling him this summer. And thus, he has no intention in letting him leave on the cheap. Roma have excellent consequences in Serie A this campaign as they are in a fifth place in the table.
