The London giants have held negotiations over bringing Stephan El Shaarawy to the Emirates Stadium on loan as he prepares for a return to Europe. Arsenal are exploring the possibility of a deal for the 27-year-old forward, who has formerly represented Roma and AC Milan.
Stephan is currently playing for Guangzhou Evergrande but is only eligible to play in one match in their remaining games schedule because of strict quarantine rules when returning from international duty. El Shaarawy is also expected to be representing Italy in October and therefore it makes sense for him to be based in Europe.
Italy international has been given permission to join a European club on loan until January, with an option to buy or extend the loan deal also potentially inserted into the terms. However, there has been contacted with the Gunners as well as Atletico Madrid and PSG.
The London giants have already signed Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes this summer, while Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares have made their loan deals permanent. The Spanish manager is still expected to be active in the remaining days of the extended transfer window, however, and the Italian winger could be a cost-effective signing to the club.
Outgoings are also likely, with Emiliano Martinez expected to join Aston Villa. The London giants manager has many options on the flanks, and Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli’s development should not be compromised.
The London giants have also just signed Willian, who is obviously capable of featuring out wide if the Spanish coach needs. The fact Stephan El Shaarawy has been competing in the Chinese Super League is also something of a concern, with the standard in the Far East nowhere near that of the PL.
