After beating Chelsea in the FA Cup final, The Gunners are now set to beat them to the transfer of one of Europe’s deadliest strikers too.
The North Londoners emerged successful in Saturday’s showpiece at Wembley thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey in each half.
The result makes The North Londoners the most successful team in FA Cup history, acquiring their 13th trophy, with head coach Arsene Wenger at the helm for seven of those wins.
And now Wenger has identified the forward he wants to land to attempt and challenge for the Premier League title next campaign, as reported by The Sun.
The Gunners are leading the chase to land Torino’s Andrea Belotti, who has hugely impressed during a campaign in which he has netted 27 goals in all tournaments.
The 23-year-old is one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards, though the Serie A club will want as much as £85 million for him.
The North Londoners are in need of extra firepower up front and have recognised Belotti as the man they need, although Antonio Conte is an admirer.
The Blues have long tracked the Italian attacker and had seen him as a viable option to Romelu Lukaku if they are powerless to prise the Belgian away from Everton.
The ex-Palermo man Belotti has netted 25 goals in Serie A, behind only Napoli’s Dries Mertens and Roma’s Edin Dzeko, whilst he also made five assists.
