Arsenal linked with a move for Mandzukic

Gunners are reportedly ready to attempt a transfer move for Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic after Gonzalo Higuain’s signing by the club.

Croatian striker likely to lost his place in the starting lineup after, £75.3million signing Higuain expected to be the first choice.

The striker, however, is considered as one of the top centre-forwards in Europe and could be a valuable addition for the Gunners.

Arsenal are strongly reliant on Olivier Giroud as their main forward at the moment, with Danny Welbeck suffering another long-term injury ahead of the new campaign.

With concerns over the Frenchman’s skills to lead the line for Arsene Wenger’s team, Gazzetta Dello Sport selects Mandzukic as the club’s latest target up front.

It has been another disappointing summer in the transfer market for Gunners, who themselves have linked with The Argentine striker Higuain ahead of his move to Juve, while Lyon also revealed they had turned down their offer for Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette.

Meanwhile, The Premier League giants Arsenal are ready to make an offer to land Shkodran Mustafi from La Liga side Valencia in the coming days as Arsene Wenger wants to bolster his defensive options, according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move to sign the German star after the news of Per Mertesacker’s dangerous injury setback.

Gunners have already landed one defender this summer as 20-year-old Rob Holding joined from Bolton Wanderers.

But, Gunners are understood to be in the lockout add some more depth to their squad – and journalist Giulianelli claims that Gunners are lining up a move to sign the 24-year-old defender.

The North London have thus far landed Holding, midfielder Granit Xhaka and forward Takuma Asano this summer.

Arsenal who ended second in the Premier League last campaign – kick off their new season with a clash against The Reds on 14 August at The Emirates.
