Arsenal keeping tabs with €40m-rated La Liga centre-forward

The London giants were among Alexander Isak’s top suitors during the summer transfer window, but a move never really materialized due to finances as well as the fact that Arsenal were far more interested in addressing the club’s defensive problems, notably bringing in the likes of Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Nuno Tavares.

As for the front-line, the Gunners stayed put with Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Eddie Nketiah while promoting Folarin Balogun to the first-team setup. But it is time to soon move on and reshape the offensive unit that has struggled to find the back of the net on a consistent basis under the Spanish manager.

France international’s current deal at Arsenal expires at the end of the campaign, while the African striker has never been the same under the Spanish manager. Eddie Nketiah, too, doesn’t have many prospects in the first-team and will likely be offloaded in winter, thus accentuating the need for a quality striker.

Sweden international fits the bill ideally having had immense success for both team and country over the past few years. At Real Sociedad, Isak has already netted 33 goals in 92 competitive games, emerging as one of La Liga’s most promising attacking footballers.

Alexander could be an ideal fit for the Gunners for many reasons, including his technical ability that goes hand in hand in with Mikel Arteta’s tactical setup. The Swedish striker can link up attackers in the final third and use quick link-up play to create chances for his team.
