London club could reportedly try again to seal the transfer of Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes in the summer after trying a winter move for him. Arsenal are monitoring U23 Brazil international, having enquired about him in January, only to find the Les Dogues not willing to let him go.
Still, the report adds that Gabriel could have an asking price of nearly £30m this summer, which looks a decent fee to pay for a talented young centre-back who seems to have a big future in the game. Gunners badly need long-term replacements for ageing and unconvincing duo Luiz and Sokratis, and Magalhaes could be just the man for the job.
The London club will also welcome French centre-back William Saliba into their first-team after loaning him back to Saint-Etienne for the duration of this campaign, and the pair could end up forging quite a partnership. Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen the back-line during the summer transfer window.
The Spanish manager inherited a struggling squad from his predecessor Unai Emery, so it should surely be a busy summer for him at the Emirates Stadium if he’s given the resources to undergo the major revamp he needs. The 22-year-old centre-back is contracted with Ligue 1 giants until 2023, and his release clause is around €20m.
Arsenal heavily linked with RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano, Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake, Coritiba right-back Yan Couto, Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele, Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar, Leicester City playmaker James Maddison, Feyenoord attacker Orkun Kokcu and PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa.
