Brighton & Hove Albion right-back Tariq Lamptey is one of several footballers the London giants are looking at as a possible replacement for Hector Bellerin. U21 England international who joined Brighton from Chelsea in winter 2020 has played 11 PL games for Brighton this campaign, scoring once and providing his partners with three assists.
However, injuries have been an issue for Tariq with a hamstring problem having kept him out since mid-December. With Hector Bellerin possibly leaving the London giants at the end of the campaign Lamptey, is said to be on the Spanish manager’s radar as he continues to rebuild the squad at Arsenal.
Given the promise the 20-year-old defender has shown, Gunners could face contest for the player and it is not clear how much the south-coast club would demand considering he’s regarded as one of their most valuable assets.
In the event Hector is sold this summer, the Spanish manager will still have Cedric Soares who has proven himself on numerous occasions this campaign to be a capable deputy both at right and left-back. In the eyes of some fans, the Portuguese right-back should be first-choice ahead of Hector at present.
It’s understood that Hector was considering leaving the club last summer with PSG said to have tabled a bid but he was talked into staying for one more season by Arteta and with that in mind, it looks Mikel Arteta has already been working behind the scenes and has identified the English right-back as the footballer he wishes to go after next.
