The London giants have entered the battle to sign Fiorentina centre-forward Dusan Vlahovic in the summer. Serbia international came through the youth ranks at Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade before making the switch to the La Viola in the summer of 2018.
Having largely spent his debut campaign in Italy with the club’s reserve team, Dusan has been a regular in the senior side since last campaign. So far, Vlahovic has played 74 games for Fiorentina, scoring 20 goals and setting up four more.
The 21-year-old centre-forward has been in fantastic form in the 2020/21 season, bagging 12 goals in 27 Serie A games, along with a couple of assists as well. He also has two goals in six appearances for the Serbian national team.
The Serbian centre-forward’s rise to prominence with Fiorentina and Serbia has now seen him attract admirers in plenty, with the likes of Leipzig, Milan, Roma, Atletico Madrid all showing interest, with PL giants Arsenal also among the list of his suitors.
Arsenal could be in need of strengthening their attacking unit in the summer with reports having claimed that the Spanish manager is set to axe both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah at the end of the campaign.
In addition, taking into consideration captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s form this term, Arsenal could benefit from signing a new striker this term. Thus, Dusan, given his age and potential, can be a viable option for Gunners to consider, along with Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva.
So, it stays to be seen as to whether Gunners pursuit of Vlahovic leads to anything substantial in the coming weeks or if they turn their focus to alternate options.
