Premier League giants of Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City are all tracking Lyon star Houssem Aouar with a summer move in mind, with Los Blancos and Juventus also interested in the midfielder. U21 France international has been a regular in the club for the last three campaigns, already played 133 games for the club in all tournaments, scoring 24 goals.
Houssem is yet to make his debut for the Les Bleus team but has been a regular for the U21 side over the last three years, playing 16 games. Given the interest from several Europe’s biggest clubs, and the fact his deal runs until 2023 at Lyon, he could cost as much as £65m this summer.
Aouar, who is playing for his hometown team, has earned praise from the biggest names in the sport already. Lionel Messi said of him: ‘He is always calm with the ball at his feet with excellent technical quality.’ The French midfielder has vast potential and can achieve a big success in the future.
Man City manager Pep Guardiola has also been happy to make his admiration of the youngster public, stopping the 21-year-old midfielder in the tunnel after Cityzens drew 2-2 with Lyon in the Champions League in November 2018.
There looks likely to be an intense battle for the French midfielder’s signature this summer as big clubs in England, Italy and Spain try to tempt him their way. Lyon, currently seventh in Ligue 1, are preparing themselves for bids for Aouar and another star, Moussa Dembele, this summer who has been linked with Chelsea and Man United.
