Gabriel Barbosa, aka Gabigol’s, demand is soaring in Europe as many clubs are expressing an interest in signing the centre-forward. A host of PL clubs, including Newcastle United, Arsenal and West Ham United, are looking at Brazil international ahead of the winter window.
Barbosa was directly compared to Neymar for his talent and proved everyone right with his displays for Santos early in his career. Those performances earned him a big move to Inter Milan who paid €30m for his services. In Italy, Gabriel flopped miserably, while a loan move to Benfica could not help him revive his career.
The 25-year-old striker returned to Brazil with boyhood team Santos and then later joined Flamengo on a permanent move. Since he donned their shirt, the Brazilian striker has helped win the side consecutive league trophies and the Copa Libertadores.
The Brazilian looks to have returned to optimal form and seems like a renewed footballer. There’s plenty of interest from Italy, Spain, and England, showing the South American striker’s demand in the European market.
While a decent footballer rarely becomes available in the winter window, teams might pounce at the opportunity of the former Inter Milan striker if he agrees to a move back.
Arsenal are on the lookout for a new centre-forward in the summer. But if they happen to sell Lacazette in winter, the Spanish coach will undoubtedly need a quality replacement. At 25, Gabigol represents a long-term solution to the attack problem.
