Arsenal in the hunt for €35m-rated South American centre-back

The London giants are interested in signing Sevilla defender Diego Carlos in the next transfer window. Liverpool failed in their efforts to sign the Brazilian centre-back in the winter transfer window, and the League leaders still see the defender as a summer target.

The 27-year-old defender has been sensational for Sevilla, taking quickly to Spanish football after moving from Ligue 1 club Nantes last summer, the centre-back has been on of La Liga’s best defenders this campaign.

Diego’s release clause stands at massive €75m, which would be too much for the London giants, however, Sevilla would slash the defender’s price tag to balance their books.

Interestingly, Arsenal may have the edge over other clubs in the race for Carlos as current centre-forward the same agency represents Gabriel Martinelli. Diego’s career has been on the rise ever since he joined Nantes in 2016, the defender has continued to take his game to the next level with his fine displays for Sevilla.

Carlos has played a crucial role in a side that have pushed themselves into 3rd in the La Liga table, the defender has also starred for Sevilla in the Europa League.

In total, Diego has played 31 games across all tournaments this campaign, Sevilla have progressed into the next round of the Europa League, and we should be able to see the ace in action for the Spanish club should the tournament come back.

This would give Gunners supporters a better look at the ace’s talents, the centre-back has performed superbly in La Liga, but this would allow fans to see what the defender is like against another top European tournament.
