Arsenal in the battle to sign 26-year-old Serie A centre-forward

Giovanni Simeone could be on the move this summer as Hellas Verona are open to selling the centre-forward for a profit. The 26-year-old centre-forward could cost about €20m in the current market, with Arsenal and West Ham United mentioned among the interested sides.

Argentina international has repeatedly proven how good a goalscorer he can be. The Argentine centre-forward’s 17 goals for the Italian club was the fourth-best in Serie A, and the tally has caught the attention of a few big teams in the continent.

The South American striker has spent considerable time plying his trade with mid-table Serie A clubs such as Fiorentina, Cagliari, Genoa and now Verona. Despite his decent record in front of goal, no big teams have taken their chances with Simeone yet, although that stance could change this summer.

Hellas Verona exercised their €10.5m buy option on Giovanni, but the Serie A club could be open to selling him for a profit if reasonable offers arrive. Arsenal and West Ham have been mentioned as possible suitors, but Simeone is one of the many options on the short list of the London clubs.

The Gunners were mentioned with interest as the Spanish manager expanded his centre-forward search into the Italian market. It is believed that Gianluca Scamacca is the striker Mikel Arteta seems to be interested in, and the Italian media decided to insert Giovanni’s name in the process.
