The London giants are in negotiations to sign Shakhtar Donetsk forward Manor Solomon, according to reports. The 21-year-old winger has been in fantastic form for Shakhtar this campaign with five goals in 17 games so far. Manor primarily plays on the left flank but the winger is also capable of playing on the right-wing or as a playmaker.
Gunners have been scouting Solomon for well over a year and have now made an approach with his entourage. The report claims that Gunners are now set to follow up their interest with an offer in the summer transfer window. He began his career with Israeli side Maccabi Petah Tikva before he made the move to Shakhtar in a £5m deal in 2019.
Speaking in an interview this week, Israel international’s agent, Ronen Katsav, suggested that the forward is more likely to leave Shakhtar at the end of the campaign. ‘I think the bigger transfers will happen in the summer because January is always corrections,’ he said.
‘Secondly, the corona is affecting, and things will be clearer in the summer than now. But anything can happen.’ As it stands, the Spanish manager’s priority is to bolster the centre of Gunners midfield, although the London giants are also looking to trim their squad in the winter window.
Gunners are targeting Emiliano Buendia but Norwich are standing firm over their £40m valuation, which Arsenal are unwilling to meet. A barnstorming last 15 months has brought the footballer to the attention of several European giants since he joined Shakhtar from Maccabi Petah Tikva for £5m in 2019.
