Arsenal in bidding war for €25m-rated Hungarian playmaker

RB Salzburg chief Christoph Freund expects Szoboszlai to leave Austria, either in winter or next summer and believes he is set to make a step up to a higher level. ‘Of course, you would like to have the player in the club as long as possible,’ he said. ‘On the other hand, it is also healthy if he takes the next step at the right time.

‘Let’s see what happens in winter, but there is a high probability that he will move to a big club. That is definitely the next step in development so that he can tap this potential and this performance with every game. I’m convinced that he can become one of the most interesting midfielders in Europe in the next few years.’

While the 20-year-old midfielder, who has been likened to Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne, has his admirers in north London, his most likely destination is the Bundesliga with reports in Germany suggesting he could join RB Leipzig before making a move to Bayern Munich a year or two later.
