Arsenal in advanced talks with No.8 Belgian midfielder

Youri Tielemans is likely to join Arsenal in a potential £40m deal in the summer transfer window. But Real Madrid will be waiting in the wings to pounce if Arsenal fail to qualify for the UCL. Belgium international has gone from strength to strength since joining Leicester City from Monaco.

Tielemans initially moved to the King Power Stadium on a short-term loan deal in winter 2019 before completing a permanent transfer in summer. And Youri has been an integral member of Brendan Rodgers’s squad since then, helping deliver the FA Cup last campaign.

To date, the 25-year-old midfielder has turned out 154 times for the Foxes, chipping in with 24 goals and 23 assists in the process. But Leicester City are likely to lose the services of the Belgian midfielder in the summer transfer window, as his deal will run out next year, with a renewal nowhere in sight.

Such a situation has captured the attention of Real Madrid and Arsenal. The Belgian is thus a viable target for Real Madrid, with recent reports claiming he was keen to join La Liga giants. But the former Monaco midfielder is closing in on moving to the London club in a £40m deal, leaving Real Madrid on the wayside.

The Gunners can do with a more dynamic midfielder in the double-pivot, especially considering the Spanish manager is unrealistically dependent on Partey and Xhaka.
