The London giants are reportedly weighing-up making a winter approach for Brighton and Hove Albion player Yves Bissouma. Mali international joined Brighton in 2018 after making a £16m switch from the Ligue 1 club Lille. Since joining Graham Potters’ side, Yves has emerged as one of the PL’s most highly-rated midfielders.
During his two-year spell, Bissouma has featured in 73 games in all tournaments for Brighton and continues to be one of the first names on Potters’ team sheets. According to a recent report, the 24-year-old midfielder’s continued inspired form has seen him emerge as a shock transfer target for the London giants.
Arsenal’s hierarchy are also interested in Norwich’s Emi Buendia but the Canaries are reluctant to let their footballer leave. However, the African midfielder is rumoured to be more ‘open’ to joining Mikel Arteta at Arsenal which could prompt the Londoners to make an audacious January approach.
The report also draws attention to Yves’s strong relationship with current Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes after the pair spent time together whilst at Lille. However, it may be worth noting that given Brighton’s precarious league position, letting their star player leave half-way through the season may not be something the club’s hierarchy agree to.
Yves himself is thought to be open to a January move to Arsenal. In addition, the player shares a good relationship with Gabriel Magalhaes, as the duo used to play together during their time at LOSC Lille. The report claims that the Spanish manager is looking to add to his midfield options and is believed to be ‘keen’ on the Malian midfielder.
