Arsenal given green light to sign €40m-rated La Liga midfielder

The London giants could reportedly sell up to three footballers from their current squad in order to finance a move for Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey. Arsenal could offload Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira or Alexandre Lacazette this summer in order to raise funds to sign Ghana international from Atletico.

Arsenal have been hit hard financially by the covid-19 pandemic and so the club can just sign new footballers if they sell a few of the footballers who are currently on their books. Thomas who joined La Liga giants in 2015 is under deal with them until 2023.

But his salary would double and his release clause would be increased to £90m if he penned a new contract. Partey is believed to be keen on moving to the London club this summer and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has identified him as a primary transfer target for the Gunners in this summer’s transfer window.

It’s certain that the 27-year-old midfielder would add the necessary quality to Gunners midfield by being deployed as a defensive midfielder sitting in front of Arsenal’s back four and he could prove to be a vital addition for the Spanish manager. The Ghanaian midfielder has played over 180 games for the Los Rojiblancos, scoring 15 goals.

However, despite Gunners planning on axing the trio to fund a move for Thomas, at the moment any move is yet to materialise as things stand. And Arsenal are set to treble Partey’s wages to lure him away from Spain. Alexandre Lacazette, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira could be axed this summer.
