Arsenal given green light to sign €40m-rated Ghana international

Charles Watts has spoken out on the Thomas Partey Arsenal transfer situation amid talk that Lucas Torreira could be heading to Atletico Madrid. The London giants could do with bolstering in midfield, with Uruguay international not really living up to expectations in his time at Arsenal.

However, as explained by Watts in the video below, it doesn’t look like a simple swap deal will be enough to persuade La Liga giants to let Thomas join Gunners. Arsenal will have to pay Partey’s release clause in full, according to Watts, so it stays to be seen if they can find the money between now and the transfer deadline.

The London giants have made a strong start to the campaign but a signing like Ghana international could be huge for them and really give them renewed hope of breaking back into the top four by the end of the season.

From the start of the summer, Edu has been working on trying to offload some of Arsenal’s fringe footballers. The Spanish manager was told he must balance the books if he wants to bring any of his crucial targets in. The Spanish club will not let the 27-year-old midfielder leave the Madrid for any less than his £45m release clause.

The London giants have been trying to raise funds for the Ghanaian midfielder and received £20m from Aston Villa for shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez. Midfielder Lucas Torreira was also closing in on a move to Serie A club Torino which would have provided a major financial boost.
