The London giants are the latest top side to express an interest in Udinese playmaker Rodrigo de Paul. AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli are all also keen on Argentina international, with the midfielder’s agent, Augustin Jimenez, planning trips to hold negotiations with representatives of clubs after him.
It’s hinted that Rodrigo would like to move to a top club now after impressing since he joined Udinese in the summer of 2016. De Paul burst onto the scene as an exciting attacker years ago but has now matured into a quality attacking midfielder over the past couple of campaigns.
The 26-year-old playmaker has played in the middle of the park for Udinese this campaign, bagging seven goals and chipping in with a further seven assists. The Argentine attacker is a playmaking midfielder that likes to spark moves from the middle of the park, he’s tidy when taking footballers due to all those years playing as a wide man.
With the London giants set to be strapped for cash this summer, Rodrigo could be an excellent option due to his versatility, the attacker can play as a No.8, No.10 or on either wing. De Paul could be most closely compared to Dani Ceballos, but the playmaker is more of a direct style of play.
Originally a winger, Rodrigo has thrived in a more central role over the past year. The position has allowed him to maintain his levels of creativity; he contributed to more than one-third of his club’s league goals in 2019-20. Now, as the Gunners look to revamp their midfield, Rodrigo has emerged onto their radar.
