The London giants are keeping track of Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin as they have already begun creating a list of potential striking targets in preparation for the departure of Alexandre Lacazette next summer. France international is in the final year of his five-year deal at Arsenal, which he signed after joining them from Lyon.
It is understood that the Gunners hierarchy are not interested in handing him a new contract and rather looking to sell Lacazette in the winter transfer window in order to avoid losing him on a Bosman at the end of the season.
In more recent reports, Alexandre’s representatives have already started negotiations with teams, while the Gunners have also been touted to use the striker as a makeweight to bring Sevilla centre-forward Youssef En-Nesyri. All sources indicate that both sides are ready to part ways.
Even though the French striker has always been a decent finisher and a useful focal point in the front-line with his hold-up play, Mikel Arteta plans to bolster his striking options.
The Spanish coach is looking at the future and has informed Arsenal’s technical director Edu Gaspar to begin the hunt for a young No.9 with PL experience to continue their squad rebuilding project with youth talent at its core.
England international produced a tally of 16 goals in 33 PL matches in the 2020/21 season, while the centre-forward has already netted three times from three matches this current campaign.
