Arsenal determined to sign 21-year-old Bundesliga attacker

The London giants are prepared to sanction a €40m offer for Dominik Szoboszlai, though RB Leipzig won’t part with the midfielder without a fight, per a report. Hungary international is one of European football’s most talented attackers.

Szoboszlai has been within the Red Bull system since 2018 and moved from RB Salzburg to RB Leipzig in 2020. In doing so, Dominik became the most expensive Hungarian footballer in history after commanding a €20m fee. Injury ensured his RB Leipzig debut was made to wait until this campaign.

But since that day, the 21-year-old attacker has wasted little time making his mark in Bundesliga. The Hungarian attacker has bagged seven goals and four assists across all tournaments this campaign. That form has seen him re-emerge on the radar of the Gunners.

The Spanish manager’s focus has returned to the Hungarian after registering his interest while he was at RB Salzburg. Dominik reportedly holds a €60m release clause within his deal. However, the Gunners are reported to believe a bid of nearly €40m is more appropriate.

Such an offer will likely not come until next summer at the earliest. Indeed, the Gunners have apparently earmarked the 2022 summer window as the time to ramp up their interest. For his part, Dominik is stated to be ‘keen’ on the move to the PL, though convincing RB Leipzig to sell won’t be easy.

Leipzig are reluctant to negotiate for a player they only recently signed. Whether waiting until next summer will soften their stance, only time will tell. Regardless, if Dominik continues to develop over the course of the campaign, the Gunners’ proposed €40m offering could quickly prove insufficient anyway.
