Real Sociedad are nearing the signing of Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal, who has made 250 appearances for the north London club since arriving from Malaga back in January 2013, while he has also started and finished both of the club’s Premier League matches this season.
Nacho Monreal’s deal at the Emirates club will expire next year, though, and the Gunners signed Scotland international Kieran Tierney earlier this month with the view to becoming the club’s future first-choice left-back for the upcoming years.
According to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, Real Sociedad are confident of agreeing a deal for the 33-year-old, who has played 172 times in La Liga during his time with Osasuna and Malaga.
Kevin Rodrigues and Theo Hernandez shared the left-back duties at Real Sociedad the last season, but the former left the Basque side this summer to join Serie A giants AC Milan on a permanent deal from another European heavyweights Real Madrid.
The 22-time Spain international has won three FA Cups and three Community Shields during his time under Arsene Wenger, but the defender failed to help his side win the Europa League against Chelsea in Baku where the Gunners were humiliated against London rivals.
Blues former No.10 Eden Hazard produced the man of the match display in the final leaving Stamford Bridge on a high note as Unai Emery failed to beat Maurizio Sarri in his favourite competition having won that tournament three times in a row with Sevilla.
