The London giants are weighing up a summer swoop for Emiliano Buendia. The Norwich City attacker was one of their top targets in the winter transfer window, but the Canaries’ persistence in keeping hold of their star footballer ultimately forced Arsenal to look elsewhere.
Gunners, as a result, had to bring Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid. And while Martin has done extremely well since arriving at Arsenal, it appears the Gunners are unlikely to secure his services permanently, perhaps being put off by the Los Blancos demands coupled with Odegaard’s lack of form returning from injury.
Gunners are, thus, ready to rekindle their interest in Argentina international, who was the lone spark in Canaries’ dismal 2019/20 season in the PL. Emiliano was among the league’s best chance creators, but a lack of productivity from teammates saw Norwich City being relegated from the top-flight.
In the Championship, however, Buendia himself has taken care of that missing productivity, netting 15 goals while registering 17 assists, ending up as one of the most productive footballers in the tournament. His contributions in front of goal have been critical in helping the Canaries earn a direct promotion back to the PL as well.
Only this time, they might have to prepare for life without their main attacker, who has attracted interest from the London giants among many other top English teams.
There is no secret that Arsenal are in the market for the new attacker this summer as the Spanish tactician look to replace the departed Mesut Ozil and indeed Martin Odegaard, who is expected to come back to Santiago Bernabeu after the end of the campaign.
