Mauricio Pochettino wants to land Ross Barkley for Tottenham but is rejecting to pay Everton’s £50 million asking fees, according to stories.
The Sun suggests that Spurs are ready to make their move for the 23-year-old with Pochettino believing that the midfielder would be the ideal fit for his squad.
However, Everton are holding out for a £50m fee, despite the footballer only having a season left on his current deal.
Barkley has been offered a deal worth £100,000 a week by Everton however the midfielder has not met Ronald Koeman’s deadline to act.
The Dutchman has since signed Barkley’s ready-made successor in Davy Klaassen, who joined from Ajax for £23.6m two weeks ago.
Last month, stories claimed that Barkley wants to leave Goodison Park this summer as he fears that his opportunities of securing a spot in England’s team for next summer’s World Cup are under threat.
Arsenal believed to be interested in the midfielder, however, face competition from Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester United.
