Chelsea recently renewed Mario Pasalic’s contract until 2022, only for the footballer to come back to Atalanta on loan for a second campaign. Croatia international penned a new contract with the London club, but the Blues will ship him to Serie A on loan. Last campaign Mario helped the La Dea clinched the third spot in the Serie A.
It was the club’s highest league finish ever. In the Coppa Italia, Atalanta were runners-up too. Pasalic has never played for Chelsea and has been on loan to five different clubs. London club acquired the 24-year-old midfielder in 2014 from the Hajduk Split. He had capped for the Croatian senior team ten times.
His most recent international exposure was a 2-1 win with Wales in the European Qualifier and a defeat in a friendly match against Tunisia. In related news, another Croatian midfielder signed a permanent contract with the Blues. Mateo Kovacic finally moved to Stamford Bridge permanently.
The former Real Madrid footballer signed a five-year contract with Chelsea. Mateo was instrumental in helping the London club win the Europa League in Baku and the second runner up finish in the Premier League. Last campaign, Kovacic made 51 appearances for then head coach Maurizio Sarri, 36 of which were starts.
He played in the left of midfield and provided the passes to Eden Hazard. He was also one of the scorers in their 4-1 victory in the Europa League in Baku with Arsenal. Atalanta secured the Champions League group stage place, and Mario Pasalic has a great chance to play in European tournament during the next season.
