Man United are concerned club captain Harry Maguire could miss their return to PL action with West Brom after the defender suffered bruising to his foot in England’s 4-0 win over Iceland. Harry played on for the full 90 minutes at Wembley as goals from Declan Rice, Mason Mount and Phil Foden (2) sealed a comfortable win for the Three Lions.
But, England international complained to the Three Lions medical staff about his foot after the final whistle and the Red Devils will assess the defender’s fitness at their Carrington training complex on Thursday.
Victor Lindelof is also in a race to be fit for the weekend’s clash with the Baggies after he had to be replaced in the second half of Sweden’s defeat to France due to a persistent back problem.
Maguire had been struggling with the issue during the Red Devils victory over Everton before the international break and the Norwegian manager will be reluctant to rush him back.
Axel Tuanzebe looks likely to start at Man United and Red Devils are hopeful Eric Bailly could be fit to play alongside the teenager at the heart of the back-line. A muscle problem has sidelined Bailly for well over a month but the injury-prone Ivorian has made significant strides with his recovery in recent days.
Man United could also be buoyed by the return of Alex Telles, who has been in self-isolation after testing positive for Covid-19. Alex is yet to play a single minute in the English top-flight following his summer move from Porto and is expected to replace the injured Luke Shaw if he’s given the all-clear to face West Brom.
