Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy is reportedly closing in on the move to Machester City despite interest from Liverpool and Chelsea, according to L’Equipe reports.
The France international is believed to have already informed Leonardo Jardim over his decision to leave the Ligue 1 champions.
The 22-year-old Frenchman had spoken to Jurgen Klopp about joining Liverpool while Chelsea have also been rumoured to have made last-minute ditch for talented defender.
However, after holding talks with Pep Guardiola France international star has made up his mind and decided to snub Liverpool and Chelsea to play under former Barcelona manager.
Spanish manager is also said to have promised Mendy guaranteed first-team minutes at Etihad Stadium as Guardiola is planning to strengthen defensive options.
According to the L’Equipe reports, City’s biggest obstacle is now to agree on a transfer fee with Ligue 1 champions who have valued Frenchman around €45 (£39.4m).
The Citizens remain in talks with Monaco and have already paid £43 million for Bernardo Silva, and now they are ready to sign another key player from French champions.
Benjamin Mendy, in the French top-tier, has won 38 tackles with a success rate of 48%. France international star has made 74 clearances, 41 interceptions and three blocks.
